Paul Dillon a St. Louis attorney and former Truman campaign manager was served with a subpoena in Newton Mass as part of a federal grand jury investigation into the parole release of four former mobsters tied to Louis Campagna Ricca DAndrea and Gice. Campagna alleges Dillon received 10000 for help in securing release.
Canon City Colorado February 27 The warden Roy Best says he has taken Jimmy Melton a 12 year old boy sentenced to 12 years to life for killing his sister into his home to rear as his own son. Best claims he can rehabilitate the boy and risks his career if it fails.
News from Decatur reports the death of James Hansford Foster in New Orleans. Born in Hillsboro he spent most of his youth in Decatur and is survived by his widow a son Harry three sisters Mrs S O Nelson Decatur Mrs C C Robertson Hartselle and Mrs Sarah Draggone New Orleans plus other relatives.
