Freshman Class at Decatur High School will present a three act mystery comedy romance Stranger in the Night tomorrow night at 8 in the school auditorium. The play was postponed from Feb 11 due to weather. Tickets are 30 cents for students and 60 cents for adults at the door.
W K Wilder of Decatur Goodyear Mills and Alabama Cotton Manufacturers warns Gum Pond Community Club that low tariffs threaten U S textiles. He says Japan and India outsell domestic producers and urges cotton farmers to press congress and senators to keep tariff protections from further reductions.
President Eisenhower blasted the Democratic plan to cut taxes by 20 dollars per person next year as fiscally irresponsible. He said the sponsors only propose the cut as a amendment to other tax extensions and he warned such a combination could force him to veto both actions. Eisenhower voiced cautious support for possible tax relief but tied it to balanced budget uncertainties. An effort to stop the murder trial of Albert Fuller by challenging a juror was overruled by Presiding Judge J Russell McElroy. The trial continued into its eighth day. Fuller, former Phenix City deputy sheriff, is charged with the murder of A L Potter, a former Alabama attorney general who vowed to dismantle racketeering in the area.
Limestone Industrial Committee reports blueprints underway for a $75,000 expansion to Athco Inc. in Athens, adding 100 to 125 jobs. The project is funded by $25,000 contributions from Athco, Athens College, and Athens citizens, with $20,000 raised and $5,000 more in sight.

The Tennessee River at Keller Memorial Bridge stood at 18.34 feet this morning, up 91 feet in 24 hours. Temperatures ranged from a low of 28 this evening to a high of 45 expected today, with clearing and colder conditions and a warmer Thursday afternoon forecast.

Allied Sales Company at 16 SE Johnston St reported a theft of 1304.06 dollars last night with 361 dollars cash and the rest in checks taken from the main office. Investigating officers say the thief apparently climbed a tree and entered via an unlocked west wall door, suggesting inside knowledge. Police compare this break-in to earlier city incidents but find it entirely different from smaller recent burglaries.
The Senate defeated Sen. Bush's bid to kill a proposed 50 percent pay increase for all members, signaling approval of raising congressional pay from 15 000 to 22 500 a year while preserving a 3 000 tax exemption. Senator Kefauver predicted 60 or more votes in favor with amendments unlikely to pass.
