Weather outlook cloudy with showers and easing wind. Local residents and visitors noted medical treatments, hospital admissions, and discharges at Decatur General. Funeral attendance from multiple states listed, plus college enrollment and campus activities at Anderson College.
Decatur voters will decide in a special election whether to replace the current aldermanic system with a full-time three man commission. Seventeen polling places open 8 a.m. Tuesday and close 6 p.m. for official tabulation.
Mrs. L. J. Ramage, 811 Line Street, drove to Decatur General to bring home her daughter but was injured when her 1940 Ford failed to stop near Seventh Street South. She sustained leg and chest injuries with no broken bones. the daughter, Miss Eleanor Ramage, had been a medical patient there for three days. Police Officers C M Kennedy and Ale Terry investigated.
The Daily hosts an election party Tuesday night with polls closing at six o'clock and rapid ballot counting. Returns will be available to the public by phone or in person once the six o'clock close is reached.

Chris White, born in Lacey's Spring and long active in Morgan County, has qualified for a seat on the county board of education. A farmer and church member, he has served as trustee in Lacey's Spring and Priceville, chaired community efforts, and supported county activities for years. He has eight children, most of whom have completed high school.
Senator Bricker of Ohio accuses political favoritism in President Truman's middle income cooperative housing program. Senator Sparkman of Alabama denies the charge. Bricker writes to senate banking committee members seeking to defeat the cooperative loans portion of the housing bill. The program would provide government backed loans totaling 2 billion dollars for cooperatives of families earning 2400 to 4700 dollars annually.
The government forecast that per capita consumption of milk and cream will decline for the fifth consecutive year in 1950. It estimated the average person will consume about 369 pounds, down from 382 pounds last year and far below the 432 pounds record.

In Morgan county deputy sheriffs seized seven gallons of moonshine from a jeep driver and an unidentified woman near Somerville. Andy Castell, 48, was arrested on transporting untaxed whiskey after a three hour stakeout. A blue jeep was confiscated. In Lawrence county a 350 gallon and a 600 gallon still were destroyed as part of the crackdown on illicit liquor.
In Birmingham a circuit court ordered the First National Bank of Birmingham removed as trustee for a trust fund set up by Robert I. Ingalls Sr. for his grandchildren. The trust holds 1250 shares of Ingalls Iron Works Co. stock and the ruling does not alter company control. Judge E M Creel held that an individual trustee may remove a corporate trustee without cause.
The Ingalls Shipbuilding Corporation runs yards in Decatur and Pascagoula Mississippi where numerous craft were produced during the war. The Decatur yard built eight Little Liberty ships along with many shallow-draft vessels for the Army. The Pascagoula yard also built and repaired river craft and barges.
The court ruled the younger Ingalls may appoint a second corporate trustee with court approval, shifting control of 1250 shares in the Ingalls Trust. The ruling intersects a long family dispute over leadership of Ingalls Iron Works Co. and its subsidiaries including Ingalls Shipbuilding Corp. and Birmingham Tank Co.
President Truman received a first hand briefing from the joint chiefs of staff on Pacific and Far East defenses. The extraordinary White House conference followed the chiefs return from a 10 day trip outlining strategic plans amid the second round in Asia of the cold war.
Senator Connally says the United States may seek an agreement with Russia on control of atomic weapons at an appropriate time. The approach would likely go through the United Nations rather than as a direct peace bid. Connally noted the State Department is reviewing broad American foreign policy.
Decatur merchants John D. Wyker and J W Wyker Jr announce a $25 000 investment to build four single story stores on Bank Street with concrete basements modern plate glass fronts aluminum trim gas heat and fluorescent lighting. Ray Childs holds the contract with construction to begin soon. The project reuses the former Green and Stein Furniture site damaged by a 1946 fire and boarded since.
Three dynamite explosions damaged two trailers and a truck at the B and M Express terminal near Elyton Village in Birmingham. The company, with 20 drivers and 18 terminal workers, reported each vehicle damaged by sticks placed between critical components. President C. D. Deaton cited union organizing threats as a possible motive, with no one on site during the blasts.
Huntsville attorney Robert K. Bell launches his campaign for Alabama governor. He calls for depoliticizing the pardon and parole board, reforming alcohol laws, improving the prison system, and tax relief for veterans. He vows a plan to move toward a nominal veteran bonus.
John L. Lewis ordered 370,000 striking soft coal diggers back to work under a Taft Hartley injunction, but Illinois and Western Pennsylvania miners voiced resistance. Lewis swiftly complied with Keech injunctions while some locals, including Robena Pa, vowed no contract before terms. The ruling came as Truman cited national health and safety risks from the strike.
