Gandhi ashes immersed in three rivers at Allahabad

Bold Daylight Bandit Still Is Object Of Hunt
Police seek a 21 year old man about five nine and 150 pounds who robbed Gulf Service Station at Lee Street and Second Avenue around 1 PM on Tuesday. He wore a grey checked suit and light blue shirt and dropped a green hat and brown scarf. Investigators say he rode a local cab to Hartsville but the trail ends there. About $65 was taken. proprietor Ralph Pence is the station owner.

Cadet Jack C. Catlett of Marion Institute is named first alternate for the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis. He will undergo a physical in April while Thomas Glenn Counts holds the principal appointment. Both Decatur boys are among nationwide examinees from a Birmingham contest. Catlett’s score qualified him for Naval ROTC, a four year college program. Catlett will travel to Atlanta March 9 for the ROTC physical.

A massive snowslide struck a Denver Rio Grande Western narrow gauge train in the Cumbres mountains near the Colorado New Mexico border. Eleven passengers were shaken. two crew members Brakeman George Ottoway and Express Messenger Victor Ingle were hospitalized. One woman passenger reportedly had frozen feet. The slide was about 100 feet wide and 10 feet deep. the wreck occurred about 5 miles down the canyon.
