Finnell files for Alabama governorship in Democratic primary

Colonel Woolsey Finnell director of the state highway department qualified with the secretary of state as a candidate for governor in the August 2 Democratic primary. He is the sixth entrant, with Co B Verner as campaign manager. Finnell advocates frugal finances, free school texts and a $50 million bond issue without new taxes. Other candidates listed include Davis Jasper W L Lee Columbia Hugh A Locke Birmingham and Probate Judge J A Carnley Enterprise.

Graft Charges By Evangelist Unsubstantiated In Robbery

Police report details a nine hour raid on B. Mallers’ Kenilworth home. Four men confronted the couple while a fifth trapped the chauffeur. the robbers locked everyone in a closet and left with jewelry silverware and clothing valued up to 300000. The Y M C A in Decatur invites boys fifteen and older from high schools and local industries to the North Alabama District Older Boys Conference on February 14 15 and 16.
