Lawrence Water Need Survey Set

A survey will launch this week toward a 500000 dollar water system for 800 to 1000 residents in western Lawrence County. Mt Hope commissioner Gene Pickens said the house to house survey will collect signatures from residents in Mt Hope Hatton Wolf Springs Landersville Youngtown and other areas in the authority jurisdiction. Neal Williams and R M Landers of Hatton join Pickens on the survey team as members of the West Lawrence County Water and Fire Protection Authority board.

Limestone Tops In Cotton Ginned In 1969 First 11 Months

U S Department of Commerce reports Limestone County led Alabama in cotton ginned during the first eleven months of 1969 with more than 43 000 running bales. Madison County followed with over 37 000 bales and Lawrence County over 28 000. State total rose to 447 486 bales.

Pleasant conditions persist as Alabama enjoys a mid winter break with a 60 degree high and 45 degree low forecast. A low pressure system over eastern New Mexico will bring increasing clouds and a 30 to 50 percent chance of rain tonight and Monday as it moves eastward. Strong storms plague other regions with Vermont reporting 18.7 inches of snow at Burlington by Saturday afternoon.
