Snowbound crisis as floods and blizzard trap Northern California refugees
Heavy snowfall blocks relief flights in Northern California forcing a long isolation for stranded refugees into a eighth day. Crowded rivers from the mountains threaten communities as two feet of snow fall in the Siskiyou Moon near the Oregon border. A 25 helicopter relief fleet cannot depart Stead Air Force Base Nevada due to storm, despite Yreka center operations for Klamath and Salmon River refugees. The cold lowers snow levels to about 1000 feet.
