Fires report no losses in Decatur two incidents
The fire department reported no losses after two fires in Decatur yesterday. A trash fire at 1319 6th Ave SE started at 2 51 p m and a grass fire near a barn began at 9th St and 6th Ave SE at 12 31 p m. Jesse Pickett is ill at his home.

IRS Backs Off Do It Yourself Filing System
Washington The Internal Revenue Service will help taxpayers fill out income tax returns next year reversing orders that would limit assistance to the illiterate disabled and non English readers. Minister's Home Damaged By Blaze
Fire chiefs report the Willoughby Presbyterian pastor Rev. N. D. Crawford’s home at 608 9th St. SE was heavily damaged by a daytime blaze, first reported at 1 15 p m. Firefighters battled the attic fire as water damage spread through the one story frame house. Some belongings were saved while the extent of damage remained unsettled at press time.
