Morgan County detention home administrators the Hallmans plus the residents prepared a Christmas display with a red Santa figure and an aluminum tree. Gifts wrapped under the tree will be opened on Christmas morning by the three youths in residence, with candy fruit and nuts for the teens. Father in critical after gunbattle in Alabama
MOULTON A midlife Moulton man identified as One McKelvie was in critical condition at Lawrence County Hospital after a gunbattle Friday night at his Alabama 33 home near Moulton. His son Fletcher, about 25, was listed in fair condition and his wife, treated for shock, was in satisfactory condition. The elder McKelvie underwent emergency surgery for gunshot wounds to the stomach with a bullet entering the abdomen and exiting the back. Sheriff Neal C. Fretwell reported the incident occurred about 11 p.m. and said the elder appeared to be holding his own late Saturday.
