Nuclear Plant Key To Area Acknowledged By TVA Chairman

TVA chairman Aubrey J. Wagner announced the first proposed nuclear electricity plant for North Alabama, to be built at Brown's Ferry near Decatur in Limestone County at an estimated $125 million. He said bids would be invited next year, with operation hoped by 1970 to meet growing demand of about one million kilowatts annually, while noting safety and AEC permitting steps.

Grenades Explode In Saigon Streets

In Saigon two grenades exploded Friday night amid Viet Cong attacks that wounded a dozen American soldiers. Earlier American pilots clashed with seven Communist MIG 17 fighters overhead during a 73 ton bombing raid on North Vietnam. The MIGs appeared to be scouts guarding the raid and avoided direct combat.
