Morgan county board of revenue and control will offer for sale at auction Tuesday 115000 dollars in jail building bonds. The sale begins at 2 pm at the courthouse. Berney Jones Montgomery contractor awarded construction contract with bids of 72750 and Decatur Iron and Steel 26500 for equipment. Bonds dated November 15 mature December 15 1940 to 1953 with semiannual interest. Morgan county voters approved the issue January 31 1939 with a one mill tax to retire them.

Atlanta December 18 Governor Rivers ordered martial law to protect the Georgia State Highway Department and its properties. Adjutant General Stoddard stationed guards at the highway building across from the Capitol. Four of four in Johnson murder case found guilty
In Nashville on December 18 a criminal court convicted two defendants in the slaying of Greek businessman George Johnson. Bill Frazier was found guilty of first degree murder with mitigating circumstances and jailed for life. Sam Boushulen received life for accessory before the fact with mitigating factors.
