Alcoa Corsair Diverses to New Orleans Amid Dense Fog
A thick fog forced the cruise ship Alcoa Corsair to divert to New Orleans after entering Mobile at the end of a 17 day Caribbean voyage. Forty four passengers were aboard as the Corsair and seven other ships waited at Chile Bay and weather officials predicted fog would persist. High water in Mobile County's Bayou Sara area drove residents from homes and blocked roads. Syracuse and Columbia began their football rivalry in 1901.
