Methadone Program Expands to Treat Narcotics Addiction
New York city and state authorize a large scale methadone based program to treat narcotics addiction. Dole and Nyswander research shows 82 percent of treated addicts avoiding heroin, far higher success than other methods. The plan involves Vera Institute and 25 volunteers in April, rising to 200 by year end.
