Limestone county farmers will receive 7 112 000 for the 1950 cotton and cottonseed crop according to County Agent F K Agee. Despite fewer than 35 000 bales ginned the total weight equals 35 000 500 lb bales and cottonseed is pegged at about 80 dollars per ton. If evenly divided among Limestone's 35 000 residents it would equal about 200 per person. The text notes a large per acre yield and mentions upcoming voting with polls open. Clarence Walters a 45 year old Baldwin County farmer was found guilty of first degree murder for the August Beech shooting feud. The jury imposed life imprisonment after a two hour five minute deliberation while the state sought the death penalty. Walters claimed self defense and insanity and blamed Mrs Beech for the trouble.
