The wholesale natural gas line reaches within three miles of Decatur. Construction by Alabama Operations Natural Gas Company targets gas delivery by December 15. State examiners under a court order have impounded Lawrence County Revenue Court records covering Oct 1 1947 to Jun 30 1950 after a sworn petition by Ralph P Eagerton Chief of Examiners of Public Accounts alleged irregularities including forgery embezzlement and false pretense. Seventeen Louisville & Nashville freight cars derail near Pascagoula

Seventeen Louisville and Nashville freight cars jumped the tracks nine miles east of Pascagoula Mississippi. A broken rail caused the derailment damaging a short bridge and hundreds of feet of track. No injuries were reported. The spill tied the line up likely until Monday night.

Harry Gold Sentenced to Thirty Years in Prison
