Decatur and North Alabama face another hard freeze tonight as the weather bureau warns of icy roads. Patrols say conditions may be milder than last night since yesterday's snow melted and many highways are dry. Decatur records five degrees with Huntsville about three degrees colder.
Morgan county health officials urge all residents who had malaria in 1936 or 1937 to report details to the county health office. The effort aims to map malaria hotspots, plan targeted drainage and control measures, and maximize dollars spent on eliminating malaria.
The cold spell grips Alabama as snow covers the northern half and a severe freeze is forecast. The Weather Bureau warns of oat and cover crop damage and possible accidents from ice on roads while Florence remains the coldest city.

J D Heidt of 207 East Moulton street was taken to Baughs Infirmary after an automobile crash on Wednesday. He suffered some broken ribs and was resting today.
Firemen pulled nine victims from a frame two story tenement in Knoxville with seven children among the dead. Victims include Mrs. McKinley Connatser and three of her children Virginia 6 Vallee 4 Luther 12, Mrs. Cora Tate 56 and her son Eugene Tate 17, plus three Melton grandchildren aged 12 6 and 9. Twenty two escaped as flames swept through the structure shortly after midnight. The blaze began on the second floor, possibly from a defective flue, trapping families asleep in one room.
A car ploughed through a near hundred strong crowd awaiting a street car last night in Dearborn. Many injured suffered skull or internal injuries and at least 13 women and children were hospitalized. Emergency units were dispatched and witnesses described panic and cries along the track.

Boxes and paper in the rear of the Brothers stores on Second Avenue caused a two-alarm run by Johnston and Bank Street fire crews around noon. The fire produced heavy smoke but little flame and damage was light.

Reports from Shanghai describe Japanese tanks entering the Nan king southeast gate and rapid encirclement of the city. Japanese air forces pounded Nanking and surrounding areas while raids hit Nanchang and Wuhu. Chiang Kai-shek refused to resign, and Tokyo hinted that capturing Nanking would not end the war.
A two-car collision on the Bee Line highway about two miles south of Athens injured three people. Edward A. Bellenbe of Mansfield Ohio suffered a knee fracture. Mrs. O J Hobbs of Huntaville and J C Thornberry were treated at Powers Hospital in Athens and Huntaville respectively after the 8 10 incident.

Alabama farmers saw about 22 million dollars more cash income in the first ten months of 1937 than in 1936. The Bureau of Agricultural Economics estimated total farm income at 102.605 million dollars for ten months, with nationwide gains of roughly 751 million dollars over last year.
Police in St Cloud Paris region report German immigrant Eugene Weidmann confessed to the slayings of five men and Miss Jean De Koven, the Brooklyn dancer missing since July. He led investigators to villas outside Paris and claimed robbery as the motive.
