Spy Suspects Guilty in Espionage Conspiracy Trial
A federal jury in Newark convicted Soviet chauffeur Igor Ivanov and American engineer John Butenko of conspiring to relay Air Force secrets to the Soviet Union. Butenko was also convicted of acting as an unregistered agent. sentencing by Judge Anthony Augelli will follow. The jury deliberated 9 1/2 hours.
