Santa Visits Early For Ill Child In Alabama
In Talladega on December 1 1940 Santa Claus appeared early for four year old Joyce Eileen Grogan who weighs 15 pounds and is fighting cancer. The visit was by Judge elect E G Harper who brought gifts including a teddy bear and a smile for Joyce as her father J L Grogan watched.

Negro Girl Sentenced for Ax Slaying in Valdosta
In Valdosta Georgia Elizabeth Washington 19 was sentenced to one to five years for voluntary manslaughter in the October 10 studio ax slaying of Morris Medove 57.
