A. D. Payne, the Amarillo attorney who confessed to placing a bomb in his wife’s car that killed Mrs. Payne and their child, died in his jail cell from an explosive strapped to his neck. He warned prisoners he would cheat the electric chair and left letters to his mother and others before the blast.

Chiropractor Shot To Death At Office Door
Dr. H. E. Duensing, a Greenwood chiropractor, was shot and killed on the main business street as he entered his second story office. Officers arrested S. J. Brunson of Avalon as the slayer after Brunson and another man visited the office earlier and learned the doctor was out. The shooting occurred as Duensing, followed by his young daughter, reached the stairway from street level.

Suspect admits part in gun fight in Altus
