Driver Emerges as Hero in East Moulton Oil Blaze
A fire at Poole Oil in East Moulton was controlled by 1 PM after destroying a crude oil transport truck and a small oil house. About 50 people including Moulton firefighters fought the blaze for under an hour. Driver Herman Phillips of Decatur reportedly jumped into the blazing truck and drove it more than half a mile before the vehicle was abandoned. Mrs. Ben Poole of Decatur operated the truck. The main oil house burned completely but the fire did not reach the primary oil supply.
