Longtime railroad man Thomas E Smith dies at 57
Thomas Edwin Smith known as Ed Smith passed away Sunday afternoon at Union Hospital Terre Haute after a Wednesday surgery. Born at Mace 57 years ago he lived in Darlington, worked 35 years for the Pennsylvania Railroad rising to chief train dispatcher and division operator. Survived by wife Clara Moore, son Raymond Moore Smith, father W H H Smith, sisters Mrs Andrew Booker Mrs R T M Giffin Mrs Grace Burkett, brothers George A Smith and William E Smith. Funeral in Darlington with services at M E church conducted by Rev M H Appleby and Rev T L Stovall. Burial in I O O F cemetery.

Evans and Evans suffer injuries in city crash near Wabash and Grant
Lee Evans of Russellville and Shirl Evans of Darlington were rear ended in a two vehicle crash at Wabash and Grant avenues Tuesday afternoon.
