Nothing Like The Last One State Braces For Fresh Snow

Virginia faced another potential snow event as a low pressure system moved up from the southwest promising snow Saturday afternoon and night. The Weather Bureau warned the new storm would be “nothing like the last one,” but any fresh snow still worried highway crews. Five deaths were attributed to last week's storm with up to 16 inches reported in central Virginia. If snow falls, it would mark the third consecutive Saturday with a similar occurrence. Some major Virginia roads remained blocked Friday night though progress was noted as the highways department reported “major gains” in clearing. Wind-driven drifts hampered earlier efforts in several regions, and more snow could affect northern eastern southwest and Richmond areas.
