Stay Won In Protest Of Eviction

Hollywood AP Steve Anthony gains another two weeks stay in his fight to block eviction from his home beside the Hollywood Museum. He barricaded himself inside and fired a shotgun at deputies. He asked the US Supreme Court to hear his case as to whether the county can condemn property for private use. Alcohol Tax Revenue Up Sacramento 1963 figures released

Californians drank over 335 gallons of beer wine and liquor in 1963 generating about 60 million dollars in alcohol taxes. The Board of Equalization on Wednesday reported a 2.4 million rise from 1982 with distilled liquor supplying the majority at 1.50 dollars per gallon. Per capita consumption remained at 1.4 gallons.

In Athens a somber procession marked King Paul of Greece laid to rest after illness. Queen Frederika and Princesses Irene Sophie led royal mourners as 800,000 Greeks lined the mile long route.
