Hollywood AP Steve Anthony gains another two weeks stay in his fight to block eviction from his home beside the Hollywood Museum. He barricaded himself inside and fired a shotgun at deputies. He asked the US Supreme Court to hear his case as to whether the county can condemn property for private use. Deputies are instructed not to press evictions until the Los Angeles Supreme Court decides if it has jurisdiction. The piece notes weather reports and city readings.

In Columbus Georgia AP a brigade of the 2nd Infantry Division tried to curb profanity in mess halls by putting Chaplain Capt Duke Biernigan on KP if cooks failed a seven day gag. They offered $2 to the chaplain if they could not swear for a week. Biernigan spent the eighth day washing dishes.
