Police say 18 year old Max W. Taylor was duped into committing a bank robbery at a Las Vegas branch after receiving a note from an unidentified youth outside a shopping tents. The teller Mrs. Jean Wakeman cooperated. Taylor claimed he was forced to hold the scene and was told the other party would harm him. Investigators report much of his story checked out.
Anti death penalty efforts advance in Frankfort as the House approves a bill to remove capital punishment from state statutes, removing the death penalty from all offenses. The measure now awaits Senate approval while messily tied to broader employment law issues.

He noted current wood planting and cutting seems balanced and outlined potential lumber development across the sight counties as the two day event starts.

Four elderly residents died in a blaze at a mountain home hospital when the furnace exploded triggering a fast spreading fire. A witness, Mrs. Davey Autry, 42, escaped after a fellow employee helped extinguish her flaming uniform. Mrs Alley and volunteers aided the remaining patients and firefighters as the building burned.

Washington AP reports the House rejected a $10,000 annual pay raise for members while considering a middle ground including a $450 raise for some posts. The vote reflected party dynamics and leadership support, with a later rail-call attempt by H.R. Gross aiming to expose how members would vote on any pay boost. House rejected the measure 222-184 after a prior 125-37 vote to advance.
