In Los Angeles AP reports the death of Marymount College president Mother du Ssere Coeur Smith. The late leader, noted for her work at Marymount, passed away after illness.
Assembly budget chair says the Ways and Means Committee will vote the $3.66 billion fiscal 1964-68 proposal next week. The panel approved $317.37 million in new allocations bringing total near $800 million, with Social Welfare Youth Authority and Corrections outlays approved. State college budgets were set for San Diego Cal Poly San Francisco and San Fernando Valley campuses. About $600,000 was cut by the committee.

The CTA urged top priority in the 1904 budget session as lawmakers split over proposed tax reforms and school subsidies.
In London MPs clashed with the government as twenty Conservative lawmakers voted to weaken an anti price fixing bill on its second reading in the House of Commons. The revolt marked the largest Conservative rebellion since the 1963 Profumo affair.

Assemblyman Don A Allen Sr says out of state teachers are deterred from moving here because they cannot receive retirement credit for prior service. The system has about 240 000 members with roughly 600 able to get credit for service earned elsewhere.
