High Winds Halt Reno Trains In Widespread Damage
High winds uprooted trees and utility poles, ripped a roof off a building, and halted two freight trains near Reno. No injuries were reported as a mile-long area west of downtown suffered damage. The Weather Bureau cited a thunderstorm with 60 mph winds. A motel manager likened the scene to Oklahoma tornadoes as a large steel roof was blown onto railroad tracks, delaying service for over an hour.
