Wells Fargo bank won favorable action on two requests for its proposed Hayward branch. The City Planning Commission recommended approvals for a curb variance and a permit to use 1179 and 1185 Russell Way as a bank parking lot in a residential area behind the site. Much Activity in State Water Projects Seen
SAGRAMENTO, p-Harvey C Banks, state director of water resources, assured northern counties today that the next year's schedule includes much activity with projects in addition to the Feather River project. Banks said investigations would end toward selection of projects in the North coastal area on the Sacramento river basin to be done concurrently with or to follow the Feather River project. He noted investigations include development of the upper Feather River service area with five proposed dams and reservoirs and geological exploration on major north coastal dam sites. Additional studies seek the quantity of water required for ultimate uses in northern watersheds and amounts available for export, plus investigations of 25 local projects on stream basins lacking surplus water.

The Union City Chamber of Commerce endorsed a council authorized $760 survey to map a possible annexation of the Fremont area. Frank Borghi presented the report, noting the move would free the Union City Steering committee from financing while keeping essential data. The chamber, formed by consolidating Alvarado and Decato chambers, lists directors from both towns and plans a December 21 meeting. Installations of 12 street lights for both communities were approved by the county board, and the D street crosswalk at Niles highway will be repainted with new warning signs on both sides.
