The mandatory execution date was set by Nassau County Judge Mario Pittoni in a court session lasting under four minutes. An appeal is likely to delay electrocution to a later date.
Plead Guilty On Bribe Offer Involving Campaign Funds
Washington lawyers John M. Pete and Elmer Patman of Superior Co pleaded guilty to failing to register as lobbyists after offering $2,500 in campaign funds to Senator Francis Case. Judge Joseph McGarraghy fined $500 each and imposed 12 month suspended sentences. Super Joint Oil Co of California was fined $10 on the same charge. Neff testified to a special investigating subcommittee about offering a campaign worker $2,500 to aid Case and the natural gas bill. The bill passed with Case’s vote but President Hoover vetoed it amid aggressive tactics by some supporters.

Crash Kills Hayward Man at Sharp Curve

Mrs. Virginia Prather Carr 30 sought temporary alimony from her husband Harry Allen Carr 50 of Hayward. Superior Judge Chris B Fox dismissed the appeal this morning. Carr, proprietor of Majestic Clothiers in Hayward and a Redwood City store, faces bankruptcy actions by creditors. The couple married Sept 15 in Redwood City, separated Nov 20. a divorce complaint cites extreme cruelty and a temporary restraining order was issued by Judge Wade Snook. The divorce action remains pending. Mrs Carr claimed 2000 monthly income and requested 575 monthly alimony. Carr lists assets of 2000 with three creditors citing about 6000 debts. his store on ? street has been closed since Monday. Both appeared briefly.
