Special to the Inter Mountain reports that in the Senate the resolution to admit the Boer representative to the floor prompted sharp exchanges. Senators Allen and Mason defended pro Boer lines while Davis condemned the approach as irregular and improper yet stopped short of opposing sympathy for the Boers. Davis moved to lay the Allen resolution on the table, which passed 36 to 21.
In Paulding Ohio Simon W Cramer former state representative and his wife were attempting to dislodge a rat from debris when a shotgun discharged. Mrs Cramer aged around 80 was struck in the face and died almost instantly according to a Chicago Record special from May 21.
Miss Misa Alice McAndrews, winner of the Inter Mountain Paris Nome contest by a large margin, will travel to Cape Nome as the paper’s guest. She plans to depart around June 5 via the Great Northern, sees Alaskan opportunities, and vows not to reveal the winning ticket. The contest drew intense statewide support with ballots counted through Saturday night and a lively interest from officials and subscribers alike.

Supporters recount diverse regional votes, including Dillon Anaean and Rossland B C, and the winner plans to depart for Cape Nome.
