A mountain cloudburst in Sleep Gulch caused a flood that washed through Anaconda injuring property and flooding basements. Debris including stumps and logs filled Sheep Gulch and the drainage ditch near the new court house, with damages estimated around twenty thousand dollars.
A boy about years old rode the belated Great Northern train to Anaconda, having been placed on at Helena. He gave his name as Master Demetrovich and had been returning from the Reluna orphan asylum. After reaching Montana hotel he was turned over to Cher Sullivan to locate relatives on Chestnut Street. The boy’s father is in Arizona and his mother was believed to be in Angel a on a visit, explaining his schooling in Helena. He told the officer that the conductor should have dropped him at East Helena instead. A woman at a Chestnut Street house grabbed the boy and kissed him as he ran to the officer.
Officers aided by a guardian figure found a two year old girl wandering near West Park avenue and Hickory street. She had left her home at 11 East Fifth street and had been missing since nine o'clock. A mother from Austria returned home after two days away, explaining her child did not recognize her. The case centers on protection and returning the child to East Helena.
The first annual meeting of the North Western Funeral Directors association will be held in Missoula starting Monday August 21. It groups undertakers and embalmers from Idaho and Montana to discuss licensing, embalming, and cross state shipments of bodies amid rail and state requirements.
The board completed weekly work and adjourned to meet next Monday. It reconsidered the Scharnikow petition to reduce assessments on lots 1 2 and 8 block 18 Laboratory addition in Deer Lodge and maintained no reduction. On Lona Reaydry petition the assessment for improvements on lots 23 and 24 block 27 Anaconda was lowered from 12000 to 10000.

Co-owners Patrick H Murray and Francis Co. Must contribute 466.66 within 90 days or their rights to Maid of Erin lode on the 1890 Silver Bow district claim will vest in the paying co-owner Joan Looney. Also an alias summons in Justice Court against Roy Harkness for 26.86 for board. date August 1899.
The Northern Pacific announces sale of round trip tickets from Butte Anaconda and Deer Lodge to Hamilton with hotel and meals options. On sale Wednesdays and Saturdays for trips to Hamilton with Ravalli Hotel lodging and meals, plus a six and three quarter day option. Tickets honored on the Copper City Limited.
An 1499 notice announces a $15 excursion by Short Line from Butte and Anaconda to Salt Lake City and return, valid for travel on August 11. Tickets usable in either direction, with ten day return window. Sleeping reservations urged at No 19 East Broadway Burt H Wilson and O Wilson, agents.

The Birchdale Stock Farm stockholders meet at the company office 29 West Broadway Butte Montana on Monday August 14 1699 at 8 pm to elect three trustees and handle other business. Frank W Haskins secretary.
