H A Bunton of 1107 North Cedar Street, owner operator of amateur radio station 9 CUV, completed a 50 watt transmitter and made a direct contact with New Zealand station 2 AC at 12 45 this morning. Signals were strong and clear. Since installation Bunton has worked coasts of the United States and Canada, Mexico, a ship station near Hawaii, and New Zealand, hoping to reach other foreign stations this summer. Power is from a 3000 volt transformer with a rectifying system and the set operates on 40 meters. Bunton is a member of the American Relay League.

J. J. Oshel a traveling salesman formerly of Creston and now in Marshalltown narrowly escaped death in a Saturday automobile collision. His face was badly cut and he sustained back injuries. he cannot work for some time.
