Mrs. Sarah M. Hovious died Thursday night at 9:45 at her daughter’s home 400 South Vine Street after several months illness. Born May 21, 1855 in Indianapolis she was 70. Surviving are three children M C Shively Medicine Lake Montana Seneca Hovious Decatur Illinois and Mrs Ray Taylor. Husband preceded her in death about 17 years ago and one son L P Hovious died about a month ago. Funeral 2:30 Sunday at the Taylor home with Rev C C Hariss of the Congressional church officiating. Burial in Graceland cemetery.

Davenport Iowa reports 11 year old William Pewe Jr son of Mr and Mrs William Pewe fell from a raft on Duck creek near the north city limits and drowned at about three in the afternoon. Paul Johnson 11 and Chester Johnson 13 were rescued.

Union county board of supervisors held a special meeting to discuss appointing a successor to Elmer L. Hunt as county attorney. Hunt faces an 18 month suspension starting July 1 by order of Judge J. Cyclone Strikes Greene Area Causing Casualties and Damage
A cyclone and cloudburst near Greene Iowa between 5 and 6 pm Thursday caused extensive farm damage. Fred Fisher’s farm lost buildings and his family hid in a cellar. Fisher may die from heart failure linked to the shock. A small boy in the Ahart family was carried by the wind, severely injured, and two deaths are feared. Several farms north of town were flooded by a heavy cloudburst.
