Creston advances a new high school to replace the Old Irving site. The $270000 bond issue passed by 1960 votes amid a 3231 turnout, with 1116 against. Construction awarded to M A Floyd & Co. for about $260930, plus plumbing and electrical contracts. The U shaped modern plan features a central corridor, two stores above ground, and court lighting.

A copper box sealed in the northeast cornerstone of Creston’s new high school contains digitized page clippings, a 1925 date stone, and items such as a World War roster, Civil War relics, and portraits. L. L. McGregor and H. W. Edaburn oversaw the ceremony as the box was wedged within Bedford limestone.
