Cranbury School Notes Thanksgiving Vacation Schedule
The Public School will close Wednesday afternoon November 29 for the Thanksgiving vacation and reopen Monday December 3. Thanksgiving exercises will be given by the children Wednesday at 1 45, and all parents and friends are welcome. The Roosevelt farm near Hightstown now houses the Oxford School for Boys from Somerville with 30 pupils and space for 100. Major Peter Béader is headmaster.

Mrs Harriet Y Clayton 69 widow of Joel Clayton longtime Monroe Township resident died in Freehold on Tuesday. She was daughter of Joseph Davison and mother of Alfred Clayton of Spring Lake and Ada Clayton of Jamesburg. Funeral services were conducted at the Jamesburg Presbyterian Church with Rev W K Eubank officiating. Interment followed at the Clayton family plot in Jamesburg.

Emma Major died suddenly at her home near Monmouth Junction after heart trouble. She was the daughter of Jonathan and Margaret Major of Franklin Park and survived by two brothers and a sister. She was active in the Franklin Park Reformed Church. funeral was held at the Major home with Rev. E. H. Cater officiating. Interment followed in the Dayton family plot under A. S. Cole, Son & Company.

The funeral of Mrs Eliza Van Aken Scott wife of George T Scott of Dunham's Corner was held Sunday from her home. Rev W K Eubank led the service for Jamesburg Presbyterian Church. 400 to 500 attendees marked it the largest Dunham's Corner funeral with lavish floral tributes. Pallbearers were Herman Rue Earl Collins Garrett Laira Frank Farr Harvey Scott and William St Hannah. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery with Rev Dr W W Krox of New Brunswick in charge. Rider College Dances Highlight Departmental Competition
Rider College plans a December 15 dance in the auditorium to benefit the Athletic Association. Fire destroys Hay Press Building at Chamberlin and Barclay
Fire yesterday afternoon at 5:30 in Cranbury Station destroyed the hay press building of Chamberlin and Barclay, causing about 25000 in loss. Firefighters from Cranbury Jamesburg Englishtown and Hightstown saved a fertilizer vault and several freight cars, with insurance covering the property.

Fire destroys barns at Applegate Farm near Dayton
Fire at T. M. Applegate’s farm on Jamesburg road near Dayton destroyed two large barns and adjoining sheds. The Wagon house and garage were saved by Cranbury firemen who sprayed them with chemicals. Neighbor William J. Thomas alerted the owners after sighting a burning cornstalk stack. It is believed sleeping tramps left cigarette stubs igniting the stack.
