The Rev J E Curry will preach in the morning on The Carpenter Mark 6 3 and in the evening on Lost Opportunities How May They Be Regained Special music by the male quartet of Jamesburg in attendance at First Presbyterian Church on Sabbath morning and evening.
Pastor Rev Adolos Allen and elders plan a Sabbath morning Rally Day on November 26 at 11 o'clock. All church members and the congregation are urged to attend. A special sermon marks eleven years of Mr Allen's pastorate.
On Sabbath November 26 at 10 30 a m the Rev C W Heisley will preach at the Methodist Church on the aggressive and resistent side of Christianity contrasting with meekness and submission. The evening sermon follows by special invitation for the Junior Order American Mechanics who will march regalia from headquarters at 7 30 p m as the choir plays My Country Tis Of Thee and the Goodwin orchestra performs Blest Be The Tie That Binds.
The Foreign Missionary Society of the Second Presbyterian Church meets next Friday December first with Mrs. I. S. Everett. The Home Missionary Society of the First Presbyterian Church meets Saturday afternoon December second in the chapel. The Christian Endeavor Society meets Sunday evening in the First Presbyterian chapel with leader Miss Laura Stults and topics Echoes of Peace and Blessing The Mexicans and The Prospect for Syria.
The male quartet from Jamesburg will join the evening service at First Presbyterian Church on Sunday November 26 and sing several selections. A fall orchestra will also assist in the song service, and full attendance is urged.
Superintendent 8. H. Perrine appoints a committee to prepare for the Christmas entertainment. Members include Miss Elva Chamberlin Miss Laura Scudder Miss Mary Edsall Miss Grace Perrine Miss Hannah Hammond Mrs. Jane Dey G A Bennett Arthur E Perrine and Elmer Edsall. The first meeting was held Monday evening at the Edsall home.
The ladies of the Dayton church will host an oyster supper in the chapel on Wednesday evening December 13. Admission is free and entertainment includes good music and a picture gallery with ice cream and candy available.
Mrs. W. H. Johnson hosted a Thursday luncheon in honor of Mrs. R. L. Mc Dowell, Mrs. Samuel Perrine, and Mrs. I. C. Hoffman. The occasion celebrated Mrs. Mc Dowell and Mr. Mc Dowell preparing to move to Pine Bluff, N C in a few days.
The funeral for Mrs James Jemison of Spring Lake was held Monday at the First Presbyterian chapel. She was aunt to Mrs Whi J Thomas of Dayton and sister of the late Sara Ellen Dey, long known in the community as Harriet Dey. She leaves two sons Samuel and David Dey and a daughter Mrs William Disbrow of Hightstown. She was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian church.
John V. V. Fisher, one of the area’s oldest residents, died at his Prospect Plains home at age 98. A retired farmer linked with prominent local families, he belonged to First Presbyterian Church. Funeral services were by Rev. J. E. Curry, with daughters Annie Fisher and Mrs. Wm. DeBow, and burial at Brainerd Cemetery conducted by A. S. Cole, Son & Co.
John Henry Dey of Monroe Township died at his granddaughter Mrs Howard Pickering’s home in Hightstown on Thursday November 23 aged 82. He was a former Union Valley farmer and a veteran who joined the fife and drum corps on Decoration Days. He leaves a daughter Mrs William Kerr of Freehold and a brother William Dey of Newark. Funeral at his late home Monday with Rev J B Curry. burial in Brainerd Cemetery Cranbury under Allen & Stults.
John N. Carpender, president of the Norfolk and New Brunswick Hosiery Co., died at Wells hospital after an intestinal illness. He was en route to Albany for his nephew Mon cure Carpender’s wedding when stricken and underwent surgery. Relapse led to his death at 8 pm. He chaired church groups, served as sinking fund commissioner, and supported local industry. Survived by a widow and several children. Funeral at the Church of St. John the Evangelist was held Thursday afternoon.
The Freehold and Jamesburg Light Co. filed a certificate of reorganization with the County Clerk. The company is capitalized at 10000 dollars in 50 dollar shares. New owners and subscriptions include William J. Lansley 57 shares Charles C. Gates 28 shares and George W. Beckwith 29 shares.
Contractor H. N. Scott has purchased a handsome new Cadillac touring car with self starting and electric lighting features, the first 1912 model in this vicinity.
A Wednesday evening reception at the home of Mr and Mrs John Perrine celebrated their son Harry Perrine and his bride. The pink and white decor featured chrysanthemums palms carnations and ferns with a bountiful dinner. Distinct guests hailed from Cranbury Hightstown Allentown Jamesburg Robbinsville Hamilton Square Trenton New Brunswick Long Branch and California among others.
The desirable farm on the road from Hightstown to Cranbury, late Alexander 5. Mason estate, sold at public sale on Thursday Nov 28 to Jones Dey of Hightstown for 7410 dollars. Auctioneer W H Johnson conducted the sale.
Firemen are requested to attend the fire house at 8 o'clock on Wednesday to conduct special business. J. J. Bradley, President.
