War Emergency Courses at Rutgers Summer Session

Beginning July first the Rutgers Scientific School offers War Emergency Courses in stenography typing stenotypy office filing and clerical service. Elementary courses prepare for clerical jobs while advanced ones target Civil Service exams and government work with high speed demands. Additional war related offerings cover radio buzzer work military topography welding gas engines rehabilitation crafts and more.

Scudder Dies in Trenton at 77 After Prolonged Illness

John H. Scudder former surrogate banker and public figure died at his home 156 West State Street Trenton after a six month illness. He was 77 and had recently served as president of the Trenton Savings Fund Society and director at the First National Bank. Survived by widow Martha Reed Hutchinson two daughters and a son two sisters and five children. Funeral plans pending. Public School closes for summer. students promoted in multiple grades.

Truck Hits Train at Dayton Crossing Injuring Two

A night collision near Dayton between a Philadelphia bound truck loaded with aeroplane material and an empty coal train injured two men from New Brunswick. Driver Leonard Ferris suffered internal injuries while helper David Freedman received a broken nose head wound and sprained ankle and was taken to the New Brunswick hospital.
