Children’s Day Observances At Cranbury Churches

Churches across Cranbury prepare for Children’s Day next Sunday June eleventh with First Presbyterian leading in God’s Wondrous Love. Programs feature recitations, exercises, solos, and a graduation from Second Presbyterian with diplomas and addresses.

Cranbury High School Commencement at First Presbyterian

The Cranbury High School annual commencement will be held next Thursday evening June 15 at eight o’clock in the First Presbyterian church. Four graduates are Helen Butcher Mary McDougall Olive Petty and Sara Perrine. The program includes orchestra selections opening prayer by Rev Joseph Curry essays by students a chorus and diploma presentations by school officials. Rev James Ramsey Swain will deliver the address and Woodlands Ave church choir will perform.

Mrs Ann Lewis longtime Cranbury resident dies in Spotswood

Mrs. Ann Lewis age seventy five died after recent illnesses in Spotswood. Widow of John Lewis and former Englishtown resident Annie Afagee, she left three children two sons and a daughter plus three brothers. Funeral at Cranbury Second Presbyterian Church with burial there. Undertaker F H Pownall of Jamesburg directed. She served in the Second New Jersey Cavalry in 1861.

Mrs Rachel VanDerhoef obituary notices

Mrs Rachel VanDerhoef former Rhode Hall resident died Saturday at her sister Mrs Lowrey Rue’s Cranbury home at age 71 after ill health. She is survived by husband David and four sisters and one brother. Funeral held Tuesday at two from Lowrey Rue residence, Rev J B Clark of Dayton officiating. Interment Brainerd Cemetery.
