James B Paxton aged eighty three was found dead Saturday morning at his home in Jamesburg by his sister Mrs David H Smith. Death due to heart attack occurred about two hours prior. He was a lifelong Middlesex County resident born in Michigan and married to Mary Lake Wilson with one daughter. He survived by three brothers and two sisters. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 30 PM from his sister’s home and interment followed in Old Tennent church burying grounds.

Guest Day at the Woman's Club featured Mrs I Newton Earl of New Brunswick as speaker. She shared insights on the Philippines based on four years there and displayed curios while Miss M Gano performed vocal numbers. A social hour followed refreshments.

Miss Nettie Dorothy Webb of Fawn Grove Pennsylvania announces her engagement to Cecil F Danger of Hightstown New Jersey. Miss Webb has worked with the Red Circle Chautauqua Association since Hood College graduation in 1920. Danser is with the Washington Fruit Growers Association in Seattle. The couple will live in Portland Oregon where he recently bought a home.

Miss Elizabeth Shangle of Deans married Alexander Gottiaux Jr of Monmouth Junction at Dayton parsonage in a ceremony conducted by Rev. William F Wefer. Attendants were Madaline Williams and Charles Gottiaux. The bride wore blue taffeta and carried white roses. bridesmaids wore blue silk dresses with ferns and pink roses. The couple reside in Deans.
The Second Presbyterian Church will host Rev. J. Ross Stevenson D D president of Princeton Seminary in the pulpit on Sunday morning December 10 during the pastor's absence. Stevenson will also speak to the Mens Bible Class at ten o clock, inviting a large male attendance to hear a renowned preacher and a “man’s man.”

A Cranbury Fire Company appeal describes the need for a motorized hose truck after the old two wheeled carriage proved unable to reach a recent fire. A committee plans to raise about six hundred dollars and will solicit donations on Saturday December 16 1922.
A public hearing at Star Theatre Jamesburg drew strong support for improving East Railroad avenue with cement paving and a new Manalapan Brook bridge. Seven Freeholders attended along with County officials and the opposition led by Samuel A. Cowart. The plan trades Gatzmer avenue for Railroad avenue. cost estimates were not provided and the Board will act next.
The Home Bureau will judge community menus for a three meal daily plan for a family of four. The winning entry travels to Agricultural Week in Trent for statewide competition with cost and time estimates. Miss Frances Whitcomb directs county home demonstration work guiding the contest.
The Cranbury Building and Loan Association reports flourishing condition with 331 subscribers from Savannah to Detroit. Members pay $1,700 monthly, loans issued on improved real estate, and the year shows a net gain exceeding 9 percent with a long waiting list of borrowers.
The church appoints Mrs. F Schweitzer as chairman with Miss Mary Hughes and Mrs. A P Spaulding on the committee to organize Sunday December 24 at 10 30 A M in the church auditorium. The Guild of the First Church held an all day sewing meeting at the home of president Mrs H N Scott on Tuesday December 5. Attendance was good and the social gathering featured a bountiful luncheon served at noon by the hostess assisted by Mrs William H Johnson and Mrs R P Stillwell. The next meeting will be with Mrs Stanley Conover.
The Woman's Christian Temperance Union will meet next Tuesday December 12 with Mrs. E. S. Barclay. Reports from the World's National and State Conventions will be presented. Committee members include Mrs. J. G. Symmes Miss Laura Scudder and Mrs. M. E. Bergen.
