Voyage to Arctic Circle Visits by Duke of Connaught Next Summer

Edmonton reports a planned Arctic voyage by Hudson's Bay Company to present two elks and two black beavers to H.R.H. the Duke of Connaught during a governor-general's northern tour. A. F. Fugl says a swift steamship will sail via Mackenzie River, with a UK party expected. The charter grants the fur presentation to heirs and successors of the crowned monarch.

Mall fruit culture pamphlet promotes small fruit gardens

Dominion horticulturist W J Macoun argues landholders fail to grow small fruits due to a belief gardening takes too much time. His thirty five page pamphlet covers straw berry raspberry blackberry goose berry and currants with planting tips variety notes and an acre cost return table showing eighty four dollars net profit at five cents per box. A section covers insecticides and fungicides and a large edition will be sent free from Ottawa Publications Branch.

Watt-Nicholson wedding ties Nelson area to Fort Steele

Alice Nicholson widow of Morden Man married Dr Hugh Watt at the bride's mother Mrs J G Clarke Trail B C with Rev G A Mackay officiating. Jessie Nicholson Trail served as bridesmaid and Rev R A Wilson Fort Steele was best man. The ceremony was quiet and followed by supper with family and close friends. Monorail 15 in Alberta eyeing expansion from Edmonton

Alberta Monorail Company officials in Edmonton assess a plan to extend a single rail line from Calgary toward coal mining and farming districts in Central Alberta. If built the system would connect with three transcontinental roads and lower coal haul costs to Edmonton to about ten cents a ton per mile.

School of the Alberta Mounted Rangers plans a large German Swedish Norwegian home seeker colony from Kansas Nebraska and Missouri in the Peace River district north of Edmonton. The Alberta government may aid. settlers must hire at least 2000 to cover initial costs until northern railways reach the area.
