Victoria British Columbia Sept 17 A cheque for 1 109 000 was handed by the provincial treasury in payment for land grants made to the British Columbia Southern and Columbia and Western railways. Lands totaling 2 550 000 and 1 225 800 acres respectively are resuming to the province at 45 cents per acre. Credits include 401 000 for interest on the Shuswap and Okanagan railway. Columbia and Western lands are subject to F August Heinze ownership of half of 580 000 acres. Heinze suggested the government buy his half, but no price was fixed and the matter stalled after last week’s visit.
