Grooscup of Tacoma with Low and Milleniteh of Chicago led American visitors to discuss buying the Bull River Electric Power Plant and Cranbrook City Electric Light works. Negotiations proceed satisfactorily and a strong Chicago syndicate may soon announce control and modern development plans.
The first train over the Koote nay Central railway left Cranbrook last Monday for Fort Steele, then Waldo and Fernie. The event, though not celebrated, marks a major advance for East Kootenay trade and future Cranbrook–Wasa connection. An English syndicate and N. Hanson are near finalizing a land deal to settle lands with farmers and enable a Wasa–Cranbrook line.
The order in council establishing the Cranbrook and Fernie land recording divisions in the Kootenay district is rescinded and replaced with a new description. The boundary starts at the international line meeting the Kootenay river west bank and follows the boundary west to Moyie Goat drainage divide, then north along the height of land, east to the Kootenay river, and south along the river to the starting point, effective immediately.
Describes the provincial eastern boundary route as it follows the international boundary west to the Kootenay river, then north along Findlay creek, east along the watershed divide, and back to the starting point at the province boundary.
The Duke of Connaught is due in the city early next week en route to Lethbridge. A veterans parade will honor him, with former servicemen invited to assemble at Carmen's Hall next Saturday or send their names to acting secretary K Sainsbury.
Due to mine work cessation at Moyie and workers transferring to Kimberley for Sullivan mine jobs the Moyie Masonic lodge closed and a Kimberley lodge opened. A large group of Tocal Masons traveled to Kimberley for initiation and services, followed by a banquet hosted by Brother Harry Drew.

London Financial Times reporter quotes Sir Thomas Shaughnessy of the Canadian Pacific Railway on a new southern route from Winnipeg to Vancouver. The line would save about 400 miles and 20 hours travel, with tunneling between Penticton and Hope and Stirling as a major junction. Plans include funding for construction and connections to other links along the coast.
Jim Bates announces his Bull River hotel is rapidly nearing completion and will be ready for occupation in a few weeks. He promises to provide an hostelry that will give entire satisfaction to even the most fastidious travellers.
A global Freemason movement seeks to reconstruct Solomon's Temple in Jerusalem. Plans include establishing a company to build a near replica on the Dome of the Rock site, funded by lodge contributions as leaders aim to restore the ancient temple with modern construction capabilities.
Hazelton Oct 2 A deserted camp at Duncan Ross tunnel six miles east of New Hazelton shows the end of a year and a half of work. About twenty men remain as the staff moves to Bulkley Summit, with $1,000,000 spent on six miles of tunnel and grading. Mr Ross plans to visit Victoria before returning to push the Bulkley Summit project to completion.
A lumberjack dressed robber masked with a white handkerchief held up the Waldo Great Northern station on Sunday evening. He took 280 dollars and Baker Lumber company checks from the safe before fleeing. Station agent E T Bell was accosted as he walked home with a wash tub and lantern. Chief Minty of Fernie led a police party to追追 pursue the suspect, with no updates as of Monday.
Ontario opposition to prairie free trade met a warm reception for Sir Wilfrid Laurier during a North Bay visit. A two thousand strong crowd cheered as Laurier praised past defeats and urged unity, linking success to a future canal promise and renewed national purpose.
