The regular monthly meeting of the Woman's Missionary Society will be held at Mrs. R. P. Moffat's Fenwick avenue on Thursday June 11 at 3 30 pm. Also notes on society officers, local events, and a Saturday cash sale advertised.

The Fink Mercantile Co. of Cranbrook opens a Bull River branch under Mr Ralph Palmer to carry gents and ladies furnishings and other lines. The venture aims to capitalize Bull River trade growth and transient customers. Cranbrook merchants favor the move.
Crow's Nest Pass Electric Light and Power Company Limited applies to the Comptroller of Water Rights for approval to use Hill River water for electrical energy generation. John Cox, injured in an accident at Waldo while employed by Ross Saskatoon Lumber, arrived at St. Eugene hospital last Friday and died eleven hours later. His body was taken to Beatty undertaking parlors and shipped to Park Head Ontario for interment.
The Cranbrook Women's Morning Musical club presented the season finale at the Masonic hall last Monday afternoon. The program included piano duets, vocal solos, violin and piano solos, duets, a vocal quartet, and a Nocturne. Performers included Miss Pye, Mrs. G Stevenson, Mrs. Maurice Quain, Miss Wellman, Mrs. A B Macdonald, Mrs. A Wallinger, Mrs. Ed Paterson, and others.
The census and statistics bulletin notes Ontario fall wheat winter-killed 19 percent by May 6, down from 694000 acres sown to 462000 acres harvestable. Alberta fall wheat winter-killed 11.6 percent, reducing harvest area from 229000 to 193000 acres. Overall Canada sowing 1006700 acres trimmed to 838700 by winter damage. Ontario 81.3 percent and Alberta 87.3 percent with May 6 conditions above long-term averages. Spring seeding advanced except Maritime Provinces and Quebec. In Ontario by May 6, 24 percent wheat, 43 percent oats, 41 percent barley sown. total seeding 40 percent completed.
In Saskatchewan 79 percent and Alberta 88 percent of spring wheat were seeded by May 1, ahead of last year’s pace. Across Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta, seeding by May 6 reached 48 percent for wheat, 23 percent for oats, 16 percent for barley, and 37 percent for all crops. Hay and clover meadows winter killed about 14 percent, vs 22 percent last year. Livestock condition across Canada remains over 90 percent of a healthy standard.
