At a Cranbrook meeting tenders for the annual prize list printing were awarded to Herald Publishing. A government grant of 200 plus 9000 funds a poultry building addition. Three thousand dollars funds the prize list and 1160.60 goes to a special horse racing program. Sports include lacrosse with senior and junior matches. pari mutuel machines will operate with no bookmakers. The fair is set for September 16 and 16, 1914. Fire Patrol Ready to Boost District Protection
J D Gilmore head of the district forestry department says this year’s fire patrol will be stronger with adequate funding. Four chief wardens and about twenty men start by May 1st or as weather allows, with railroad patrollers ready. Wardens stay five months, extra staff possible during dry months, Baker Mountain top telephones will link to Cran Brook for lookout and rapid communication, and every patrol will be equipped.
