Pye Pupils Present Third Piano Recital at MMRGONIG Hall
The third recital by Miss Alice Pye’s pupils was held Tuesday morning June 30 1014 at the Masonic hall. A large attendance applauded over thirty numbers in one hour with pieces from the early learners to the old masters. Prizes were awarded for merit to Annetta Brault Muriel Baxter May Brambaugh and others including Manter Verne Woodman Wanda Mixx and Vincent Fink.

Mrs Beatrice Greaves wife of CPR conductor W H Greaves died suddenly from acute heart failure last Monday night. The family, residents for about 14 years, include sons James and Della. Funeral from the Catholic church with requiem and interment at the Roman Catholic cemetery. Rev Father Plamondon officiated. pallbearers named.

At St. Hugene hospital nurses invitation, Miss Williams Miss Shank and ten others joined a picnic to Fish Lake on Monday June 29 with four autos loaned by local doctors and merchants. Lunch at noon, then fishing and boating. Some went to Bull River Falls for supper at seven o clock and returned after falls viewing. One car delayed by blowouts on the return trip.

Dominion Day Draws Big Fernie Crowd in Cranbrook Rivalry
Fernie celebrated Dominion Day with sports and an Indian pow wow drawing numerous Cranbrook visitors. M Murray won the Open 100 yards, Lee Sims led the married men in the 100, and Cranbrook beat Fernie 4 3 in a hard fought lacrosse clash after a tie at time. Fernie and Cranbrook later played baseball, Cranbrook winning 3 to 6 with strong Cranbrook defense and bats. The return game is set for July 8.

Miss Alleen McDonald and William K. Cline were married at Our Lady of Lourdes Church Spokane. The bride taught in the Cranbrook public school. the groom a chief train dispatcher with the GPR. They plan a three month honeymoon sailing from Boston July 11 and touring Europe and North America after. The Panama Exposition Publicity Association of Western Canada intends to promote Western Canada to visitors, with a San Francisco bureau and a board of directors from British Columbia and Alberta to support local trade and industry outreach.

A large audience attended the Cranbrook city band concert last Sunday with new seats filled and many on the walks. Special Train to Nelson Carnival from Cranbrook
A Cranbrook Board of Trade notice details a special CPR train leaving Cranbrook at 7 p.m. on Thursday July 16 to Nelson for the carnival. Passengers may sleep on the boat and breakfast there with a return at about 1 a.m. Saturday. Round trip fare is 5.55 dollars. berths on the boat cost extra. Fernie Shooters Top Cranbrook in Baker Cup Events
At Cranbrook Civilian Rifle range the Baker Cup second shoot saw C Gill win the morning 62 with Lister second on 59. Fernie won the 200 and 500 yard Fernie events while Cranbrook took the 600 yard event. Final scores: Cranbrook 57 Fernie 896 Minton led Fernie with 9h and P Bean second with 90 for all ranges. Weather ideal all day and Mrs. F J Deane departed for Spokane for hospital treatment.
