A Cranbrook Patriotic meeting at Wolfson theatre unanimous on continuing the war to a victorious end. Speakers including Dr J H King Senator King and J M Christie praised Canadian troops in France, condemned German aggression, stressed duty at home, and pledged loyalty to the Empire with prayers and a strong resolve. The gathering concluded with God Save the King.

In Moyle at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Nutt, their eldest daughter Elsie Eileen wed Mr. C H Brooke. The ceremony was by Rev A B Lane Cranbrook. Bridesmaids wore pink voile, best man was Jack Brooks. After a repast, the couple left for Baynes Lake and will be at home after August 18. Presents listed from many relatives and friends.

Miss Marjory Banwell formerly of Fernie wed Mr Howard Gordon Mecredy at Christ Church Cranbrook on Saturday July 1 1915 at eleven in the morning. Rev W H Bridge officiated. Bride’s attendant was her sister Miss Mecredy and she was driven home by her brother Mr S Banwell. Groom's supporter was Mr Septimus Remeey.

The Womens Institute plans a members show to boost the city with an afternoon program from 2 pm to evening. An entrance fee of 10 cents supports Red Cross work. Messrs Barnes and Wyndham representing the British Mission of Inquiry into the Armament Supply arrived in Cranbrook last Saturday and conducted examinations of about sixty applicants. Thirteen were accepted for guaranteed six months work with free return transport to Canada. Wages ranged from 40 to 40 shillings weekly. many will be employed until after the war.
