Harry and William Navin of Navin Brothers Moose Jaw accompanied by their families visited Cranbrook for a brief stay before leaving Tuesday morning. Harry Navin, previously in charge of the CPR stores department, was Cranbrook’s leading all round athlete. A Fernie betting scheme claimed a Cranbrook speed claim but Navin’s time on race day proved decisive, with Navin clocked at 10 seconds flat versus Fernie’s 18 seconds.

Fire Ends Quick at McLean Warehouse On Hanson Avenue
Firefighters answered a Saturday call to the J. H. McLean store on Hanson avenue where an incipient blaze damaged a stack of new mattresses in a rear warehouse. A nearby stove overheated, sparking the fire, but crews contained it with little damage.

Cranbrook Poultry Association to Stage Winter Show in December
The Cranbrook Poultry and Pet Stock Association met in City Hall and voted to hold a winter show the first week of December. He notes his son H Spencer Kerby, a 1914 Toronto University engineering graduate, is a Royal Naval Air Service flight lieutenant at the Dardanelles. The feature outlines Mount Royal College programs, its residence system, staff of eighteen teachers, and the new calendar detailing courses in business, academics, music, art, expression, physical culture, dramatic art, domestic science and a ladies college course.

Mrs Fred Brown Dies in Cranbrook
Mrs Fred Brown dies in Cranbrook after a long illness from diabetes at the age of about 42. She was a Presbyterian and beloved wife of Fred Brown who moved from Calgary to Cranbrook with the Pink Mercantile Co. The funeral was held at Norbury avenue with Rev Thomas Keyworth officiating. Relatives from Boston and Alberta attended. numerous floral tributes marked high regard for her.
