Congress enacted the Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act affecting Medicare rules starting Oct 1982 and Jan 1983. Major provisions include 80 percent inpatient radiology payments, primary insurer options for 65 to 69 workers, federal employees eligible from Jan 1983, hospice coverage from Nov 1983, and higher Part B premiums. Last week business and farming spokesmen urged eliminating the Pesticide Review Board to let the agriculture department decide pesticide rules for groundwater. A Legislative Council committee heard defense of the board while an environmental impact study warned the department may be ill equipped to protect groundwater from aldicarb.
A rural land workshop for owners and buyers is set for November 6 at the Central Wisconsin Environmental Station near Nelsonville. Sessions cover eight topics chosen by attendees, with four to be attended, plus outdoor field trips and a registration fee of 12 dollars per person and 20 per couple.
