Court rules farmer avoids special assessment ruling
Judge Vincent K. Howard of Marathon County Circuit Court voided Abbotsford’s nearly $90,000 sewer special assessment against dairy farmers Roger, Katherine, and Edwin Weideman. Barron Livestock Market held a first production sale drawing Holstein breeders from six counties. Forty cows averaged near $1,500 with records up to 22,000 pounds of milk and 1,000 pounds butterfat, top animal at $2,200. Pierce County Forestry Day Sets Saturday Sessions
Forestry day scheduled for Saturday begins at 9 30 a m in the courthouse annex with a two hour session on the Tree Farm program woodland tax and heating with wood. An afternoon program at 12 30 p m at the Orin Finstad woods covers measuring trees timber sales walnut tree management conifer and maple management and timberstand improvement. The Finstad woods near Martell on Hi View Road lies half a mile south of Highway 29 eight miles east of River Falls near the Area Animal Shelter. The woodland day is open to the public and attendees should bring their own lunch.
