Predator birds in Wisconsin may need less protection says expert
University of Wisconsin poultry specialist John Skinner argues that birds of prey have rebounded under protection and now threaten poultry operations. He cites great horned owls causing losses, estimates up to 100000 dollars for ducks, turkeys, and chickens, and calls for population level guidelines and improved trapping. He warns mink escapes also threaten farms and urges careful reconsideration of protection status.
