Dickcissel comeback noted in Wisconsin farm reports
A Wisconsin observer tracks dickcissel resurgence along Exeland to Bruce routes, noting 10 birds on one transect and variable past counts. He discusses a six year cycle, potential declines after 1973, nest timing with alfalfa and clover harvest, and asks farmers for reports on nesting and nest disturbance. A related note observes cardinal feeding behavior and cites S R of Amery and Medford pastor and ornithologist Mr Robbins.

Wisconsin hearing on Tyvac deer tags stakes in field validation
The Assembly Tourism and Recreation Committee holds a public hearing in Madison at 10 a.m. on whether DNA can require field validation for Tyvac deer tags. Tyvac tags, a backtag and carcass tag, must be validated by slashing the carcass portion and could reduce costs and handling time versus metal tags. Rep. Patricia Smith invites hunters to share views via hotline or mail.
